A Fast Food Giant May Be Seeking Help From The Label Industry!

Posted by Sheetlabels.com on 9/18/2012
Fast Food Labels With smartphones, internet and all the free health and fitness applications helping to track progress with working out and counting calories, it’s no surprise that businesses may be feeling the pressure to produce nutritional facts that are easily available for consumers. In a recent study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), researchers have found that people, especially women who read nutrition labels, weigh approximately 9 pounds less than people (especially women) who do not. The king of the fast food industry, McDonalds, has decided to finally jump onto the nutrition label bandwagon. These new labels could change the way people perceive the food they are putting into their bodies even at a fast food restaurant. People may stop purchasing large meals and start ordering smaller sizes after they have had the chance to fully understand the facts about what they are eating. These new labels will include information like:
  • Serving Size
  • Calories
  • Calories From Fat
  • Sugars
  • Proteins
With obesity being an epidemic in America, something as small as adding nutritional labels may help to fight the growing epidemic. It is important to fully understand what each nutritional category means and take into consideration when eating. McDonalds has been attempting to offer consumers healthier choices by adding apples to the kid’s menu and adding more options such as salads and parfaits to the regular dining menu. Together, the fast food industry and label industry may be able to take on a problem that affects far too many people. The label industry may have a chance to save consumers time and money in the future while helping consumers make better choices today for themselves and their families. Let us know on Facebook or Twitter if you read nutrition labels, we would love to know!
