Making Your Own Puzzle With Blank Sheet Labels

Posted by Sheetlabels.com on 11/14/2014
Creating Custom Puzzles At SheetLabels.com we love crafts, and we know that you do too, so here is another fun one! In this post we will go over how to make a unique, custom puzzle using an 8.5 x 11 full sheet label. Besides the full size sheet label you will need scissors, a pen, the image you want to turn into a puzzle, and your printer. The first step is to get your image ready to print. You need to have a decent resolution image that can be sized to fit on the 8.5 x 11 label sheet. Once you have your image ready, you should test it out on a blank piece of plain white paper just to make sure it is exactly how you would like it to look. If the test sheet comes out good then it is time to load your label material and print. full sheet labels When you have your 8.5 x 11 label ready, it is time to start actually crafting your puzzle. An additional step that can be done is mounting the label to cardboard (optional) to give your puzzle more thickness and weight. The easiest way to go about this is by cutting the top flap off from a plain cardboard box. You need to use a medium or large sized box so you have enough width to fit the 8.5 x 11 sheet on. Once the label is mounted on the cardboard you can trim off all of the excess cardboard around the label. The next step is marking out actual puzzle pieces, and this can be done on the back of the cardboard so it does not interfere with your image. In this step you have the freedom to draw the puzzle piece shapes anyway that you like. In this step you can also use a ruler if you are not confident with drawing your own lines. Simply mark up the back of the sheet into puzzle shapes. Be certain that all of the puzzle pieces are clearly defined and that they extend to the border of the label. Once you have the puzzle pieces all mapped out, you are ready to cut out the puzzle. This is the easy part since you are just cutting out the puzzle shapes that you already mapped out. After you have the whole puzzle cut up it is ready to go. Now you mix it all up and put it back together so you can see the finished product! These simple homemade puzzles can make for great holiday gifts to friends and family. Using different images that are important to your loved ones can make it a really personal and special handmade gift for everyone. Here is a video that shows the puzzle making process here at SheetLabels.com. This one was made without the cardboard since that is optional to add weight and thickness.
